Transfagarasan
Transfagarasan & Transalpina roads are closed during the winter season, but specialy Transfagatasan road that its only opened fully in between 1st of July and 30 of October. It may be closed sooner then 30 of October due to the weather. It can open, unofficialy, in the end days of June, but it's not safe till July because of the high danger of falling rocks due to the rain and snow melting. The part that is closed its the North and top side, on both sides, from Balea Waterfall to Capra Mountain Chalet, the exact part with the faimous view. The top its still reachable by cable transportation. To be able to cross it safely and to have no delay due to the need of detour, we recomend planing your trip in between Transfagarasan opening dates.
Transfagarasan top mountain peak, called Moldoveanu , is 2544 meters high. The road peak altitude is 2042 meters high.
